What he forgot to mention is that should be mixed together, not used seperate. If you canít find a good soil type then top soil mixed with sand will do alright.

I use coconut fiber. It holds a burrow really well. I have between 4" and 8" in her tank.

I agree compressed cocunut fiber is good but in some places it is expensive but u can fill a 55gal tank bottum to about 3-4 inches wich is really good

what do you expect when you post something on a forum? if you didnt want honest opinions then you shouldnt have posted it for everyone to see. i have a bosc me an a science teacher use for educational purposes for high school kids. may i ask whats your feeding regimen? what are your temps? i tested a topsoil/playsand mix and regular yard dirt (filterd) and she like the yard dirt better, she didnt dig anything on the topsoil.

regards, felipe

Yard dirt is the best choice I have had plenty of luck with it. I spray down the top layer every couple of days to minimize dust. It also forms a nice crust which probably helps keeps the burrow shapes. I have been feeding on an every other day schedule. My bosc is about 12" total length and sucks down 5- 6 hopper mice every other day. I maintain a 140- 150 degree basking spot at the very top of a retes stack. he uses all the layers of the stack as well as burrowing like demon. He seems much more interested in burrowing than does my blackthroat of the same size. He is more than happy to eat crickets but after 40 or 50 a sitting and still looking for more i decided to up his meat intake. I am raising a colony of false death head roaches as well as garden snails to supplement his rodent and bird diet. By the way albigcrazy turned me on to day old quail and they are like monitor crack I swear they can smell them and come out of hiding when i walk in the room. Hope his helps
