Frequent shedding? Our Black Milk Snake has shed about every 4 to 5 weeks in the past. However, this time he has gone "blue" within two weeks of his last shed. Is this unusual? He did seem to have a bigger appetite than usual over the last couple of weeks but he also had not eaten as much as usual previous to his last shed. I am guessing that it is not a problem but would like to hear from anyone that might have had a similar experience. Thanks. BTW, our new female Black is settling in nicely and getting used to being handled/allowed out of her tank.

Frequent shedding? As long as this is a very young specimen it’s nothing to be worried about. However, if this occurs with an adult snake, one can be certain of some kind of physical bad, usually lack of vitamin B.

Frequent shedding? Hmmm, well he is not young, although I do not know his exact age. He is a little over 4’ long. I feed him either live or F/T mice. I would have thought vitamin B deficiency wouldn’t be a problem. What do you think I should do and what else might be the reason? He seems to be fine physically and has been just as active as usual before he went into his burrow and "blued". He has always gone underground before shedding, so that is normal. It’s just he has never had such a short interval between sheds before.

Frequent shedding? Mine have been doing the same and are shedding quite often right now. But they seem completely healthy and happy, and they eat like horses! Both are around 44 inches and pound a small rat every Friday. I am hoping its just a growth spurt with them.

Frequent shedding? Oh, well then you have an adult snake and it seems a bit strange for it to shed that often. I have had experiences with other kings and milks that seemed okay in every aspect, but suddenly started to shed 2-3 times in a month. I put a small piece of a B-vitamin pill inside the mouth of a dead mouse and the snakes got back to normal in a couple of weeks time.
