 Popping cyst plan, good?

I am not in the position to be taking my leopard gecko Hershey to
the vet to get her abscess/cyst popped for 100s of dollars, and the
medication they give to knock the gecko out is life threatening, so I plan
on popping it myself... I’m a bit nervous to be doing this but I think I can
do it. And keeping her in one position is not going to be a walk in the park.

My plan is to get some Baytril, take out my saline solution, and sterilize a
needle. Then i’ll try my best to find the correct dosage of Baytril by weight.
After that i’m gonna just go for it and hope for the best... I’ll stick the needle
in the cyst/abscess, drain all the pu.s, and then fill the old hole with saline,
and keep rinsing the wound with saline daily to keep it sterile. She will be on
Baytril during the process and for some time after my treatment to prevent
the cyst/abscess from coming back.

Sound like a plan? Oh, and please don’t go off topic and start getting mad at
me for not taking Hershey to the vet, I simply cannot afford it!

Thanks~
Amber

Where is the cyst located ?
Once you lance the cyst drain it by using finger pressure as you would a pimple. Using the hypo will probably clog it (the needle) You may have to make more than one insertion.

Have a solution of water and betadine 50/50 ready to soak the wound and cleanse it. Leave it open to the air and have the tank sterile during the week or two that this process will need to be repeated daily ...or every other day.

Saline is a good rinse but has no germ fighting properties like betadine does. Also a triple antibiotic for humans works well for fighting topical wounds / infections. Apply this product after the wound is dried off for overnight or day to day purposes. After 2-3 days lance and rinse and cleanse and dry again ...apply the triple antibiotic. If all goes well it should heal.

Should you cause bleeding that won’t stop have some corn starch on hand to apply to the bleeding. it will help coagulate the blood and stop the bleeding.

If this is a hard tumor / true cyst I doubt much liquid will be expelled. You have to determine what it is first...

I think regular saline will do the job :)

The cyst is below her eye...

Will this cream work for every day application?
Triple Anti-biotic If not will you link me one? I will have corn starch, thank you!

Any tips on how to remove it if it is like a hard lump?

Use the neosporin WITHOUT pain relief...just plain old ointment or cream. NO pain relief

I tried to find a picture of it on the web but after 3 minutes I gave up...off to work I go

Yep ...that’s fine ...any triple antibiotic that is pain reliever free...
1 is a brand name item and
2 is the same thing / ingredients with out the Neo name tag.
