 Cricket Question

My leopard Gecko, The Commander, seems to refuse to eat crickets. He will only eat meal worms. Is this a problem? I know that crickets are more nutritious for him, but it is almost like the commander is scared of them. Is it alright for him to eat only meal worms, or is there anything i can do to get him to eat crickets? Thanks again.

It’s okay. You need to make sure you are gutloading and dusting 2 a week. In Pet Stores, they have a leopard gecko diet, a powder you mix with water. That provides some nutrients to while you are feeding mealys.

 Cricket Question

How do I go about gut loading meal worms? I usually just dust them with calcium powder and fed them to him

There are things you can buy at Petco. Just ask a staff, and they will tell you everything it’s not a MUST but it will make them a whole lot happier and healthier in the future. How long have you had her?

 Cricket Question

Hi, I’m just wondering if you’ve tried smaller crickets. Maybe he’s just freaking out from seeing these giant bugs running around. As far as gutloading mealies, I’d recommend keeping them in a container with fresh fruit/veggies and oats for 24-48 hours. Put them in a dish with a calcium/vitamin dust and as your leo grabs the worms, he’ll get a little dust. And I’d also recommend keeping a small dish of calcium powder in his cage. He’ll lick some up if he needs it.
