Some of this seasons coolest geckos...

these are some of my hatchlings from this year, I tried not to have too many babies, but alas, I DO, wayyyy too many..lol, anyway I only bred what was necessary (kinda)...shown below are a few from mack x eclipse, mack x reverse stripe het eclipse, and stripe x reverse stripe het eclipse:

most of the macks are eclipse hets and all geckos shown are possible het for tremper albino...

the first two are my faves..
i don’t think i will ever get bored with the mack patterns, my original breeders had striped genes so there’s always something interesting hatching..

thanks for looking-
Duane

Some of this seasons coolest geckos...

Thanks for the kind words MissSky and Smurfzilla!

haha, i may take you up on that offer, seriously i am slightly overwhelmed, and i don’t want to jeopardize any of my otherss, i will be narrowing down my collection before the cold weather comes...

they are all doing well, i have had a few problems with doubling up females or grouping them...the eclipses in particular don’t seem to take kindly to OTHER eclipses....not sure if it’s me imagining this, or not...i try to keep siblings together when possible...clutchmates that is, if i am keeping any not singly that is...

oddly enough the normals are really aggressive seeming too....LOFL, i don’t think I could ever truly tell if this behavior is actual or not, since i kept 3-4 of them in larger enclosures than the others...no matter what you do, there is a hierarchy of power in groups- even with breeding trios, there is a dominanat female and she makes this known when it is feeding time.

My eclipse female makes no bones about it when it’s dinner time and the male eclipse het gets in her way, he moves. there is no fight , he just gets out of her way. (smart gecko) as she outweighs him by maybe like 20g

I am trying to figure out now, if i have small size giants in the eclipse gene pool, as the tails on some of them are very lanky and they are generally still growing after 1 year.

I sometimes thought they were not getting enough nourishment for some reason, but I think now they are just very lean and eventually, like a tall teenager, they just take time to grow into their full bodied shape...

I am going to try and compile some images to compare progress, and also contact Alberto from AMgecko and ask if there’s a possibility that they could be giants...I remember that Ron trempers original RAPTORS were bred into giant line genes also...and Alberto’s eclipses are non-albino versions of RT’s and were purchased very early on from him.

Unfortunately I hadn’t been aware of the possiblility of my eclipse and eclipse het breeding duo being possible het tremper albino, otherwise this season would have focused on proving which ones are het for tremper albino.
-As MALISSA found out before me (lucky girl) i had some het trempers in the mix....she hatched raptors from a male and female het eclipse she picked up from me...

what i think, is that the tremper gene connects to eclipse hets easier than to eclipses, I will try to prove this, so far i know that 2 rev. stripe het eclipses are het for tremper, as well as two more banded het eclipses. (all f1 gen)

two eclipses from the f1 generation have turned out, coincidentally or not, to be NOT het for tremper albino :(

SO... what i have on my hands is a ton of geckos POSSIBLE het for tremper, which is a little added bonus, as long as you like tremper albinos, which i do...it just would have been better to know for sure...

I found out this season that My male mack snow breeder (unnamed-....Cacho?) is NOT het for eclipse, but IS het for tremper,
and i hatched a bunch of males this season of all sorts...which i will weed out and try to pair up and sell with some females from last season to make some good breeding pairs.

The males grow REALLY REALLY fast, and are really a lot of fun since they have no fear, they are very agile and love to jump..if you pick one up by hand there is a 99% chance he will be on your shirt collar before you make a move..lofl

I still have one female mack that was sold as a 66% chance of being het for raptor, I will be crossing her to a male mack eclipse hopefully (possible het tremper) to prove this out, although the male eclipses and male mack eclipses from this year are still very young...

I also paired a PRS with the mack het tremper to see what would happen with the stripe genes , it was not as exciting as planned, it may be that the striped genetics don’t combine well...or are not somehow compatible across these particular morphs ...
although the male is not striped he DOES contain striped genes and can produce stripes when crossed to my other mack that has similar a genetic background (the mack f 66% het raptor), this pairing did not produce any solid striped or rev.s triped geckos so far, although the neck band is broken, the tails do not appear to be striped...
PRS can be made by crossing stripe to reverse stripe geckos, so i was hoping that in this cross I would get the stripe genetics to show themselves...(My PRS is from an eclipse crossing, but PRS from rev stripe x stripe have been proven to be ’het’ eclipse, that is they can produce some eclipse f1 gen when bred to each other)
-she only laid a few eggs as this was her first year, and conditions may not have been optimum, once babies are bigger I will post a few images as well..

I have a load of striped x reverse striped het eclipse babies as well...i didn’t mean to get so many..lol
these are fairly normal looking at first, but many get either bright coloration, or funky patterns, and striped tails are very very common to them, which always looks cool....
hopefully this weekend i can get a bunch of images together to show what i mean...until then i have some hungry mouths to get back to here....
including mine..lol

take care-
Duane
