New gecko owner 5 actually :)

I could not resist after i seen these beautiful geckos. I will have pics up soon. I got,

3x tangerine albino het raptor
1x broken stripe het raptor.
1x banded raptor.

I need to finish setting up cages and everything else than i will post pics.

If anyone knows any secerets or anything on these guys let me know i am new to owning them.

I tried giving them some food but none would eat probably because of stress.

Bill

The ultimate mistake of owning these geckos has been made...
getting them without research.

Have you looked into their temperatures? Have you looked into debated topics (like sand)? what do you know about them and their needs?

Can’t wait to see pics, though.

Uhmm ok lets see. You jumped the gun a littttle to much here. I have done plenty of research. I know what im doing. I own 3 red ackie monitors and 2 sub adult savs from babies. Im pretty sure i can take care of a gecko lol. I am keeping them on paper towel for now. Heat pad on half of the tank. Humid hide. I have 3different hides. 5,000 meal worms 5,000 crickets. Im pretty sure im ready for 5 geckos.

Here is a little proof im not a newb.

I do have a few questions though. I can only think of one as of now. I hear alot of different temps to keep them at. What do you prefer? Is there a caresheet you would recommend?

Just please before you jump the gun atleast get to know the persons setup and see pics. I know you probably get alot of newbs throughout here just like the monitor forum does. As you can see i take good care of my animals and i am very dedicated. I also can take criticism and wont sit here and b1tch about it.

Thanks for your time.

I am not saying you are a newb whatsoever. However, almost 100% of the time "I couldnt resist" buys turn out to be terrible mistakes. Sorry, I have seen far too many horror stories to trust people anymore, and that’s not your fault.

Cool side temps should be anywhere from 75-80, warm side 85-90. Some say 78-82 and 88-92, that would be fine as well.

Other than a heat pad how else do you supply heat in the cage? I am just looking for some more ideas.

Well, because they are nocturnal uths are the best, but to add some extra heat the night-glo bulbs are good to use. You can find those for like $5 at pet stores.

I just checked my temp and im at 92 hotside. I am waiting to see the cool side now. I am using shop towels do you think this may be a problem at all? I could not find anything wrong with them though.

Thanks,
BIll

As long as the nails don’t get stuck it should be fine.

Their teeth can get stuck too...a couple of mine got their teeth caught in the repti-carpet while catching insects...shop towels might be a little better if they don’t have too much "shag"...
