 Please don’t think i’m a complete idiot

i’m from the iguana forum and just wandering around. logically it seems to me that a legless lizard is a snake! what’s the difference? how do you tell?

ok, the difference between them is that a slow worm can shed its tail if it needs to for defense, slow worms are much less flexible, their head is the same width as their body whereas the snakes head is bigger than its body and slow worms have eyelids!!
Thats all i know so far !

Also, snake tails are very short. Even a large constrictor has a tail that’s only several inches long. On a lizard, the tail occupies usually half or more of the body length - especially legless lizards; unless, of course, the tail has broken off.

well just think of every difference between a snake and a regular lizard!
Head shape
flexibility and number of vertibrae
diet
eyelids/eyes
uvb and other care requirements
tail length

really the only SIMILARITY between snakes and legless lizards are the lack of legs.
The difference between snakes and legless lizards is no different than the difference between an iguana and a snake!
