I posted this yesterday but it didn’t show up. If you see it in another section let me know. The only thing I can think of is it didn’t submit or I some how managed to misplace it in another section.

The mother isn’t that small, longer and thicker than a pencil. She was a lot bigger when pregnant. lol.
Thanks for the comment!

This may seem like an odd question and I dont know if you could actually answer it, but... the way it moves around in your hand does it feel much different than a snake?

Yes and no. Their spines aren’t as flexible as most snakes so they can slip off really easy. Snakes tend to grasp more. However when they slither around it feels the same.

Did that help?

They are just so cool. Do you know why the purpose for them being legles? Everything takes an evolutionary path that benafits their enviormant. If that helps explain my question.

Slow worms and legless lizards are the same. They both share the same common features. Depending where you live you may hear glass lizard, slow worm or legless lizard. Some will argue that they are split up by sub family but thats not 100% accurate and therefore an invalid argument.

Slow worms=legless lizards/legless lizards = slow worms. I really don’t understand why people can’t comprehend that. I hate common names.

The slow worm is a single species of legless lizard. Its Latin name is Anguis fragilis. It is native to Europe.

Anguis fragilis is not the only lizard referred to as slow worm.Ophisaurus is also sometimes referred to as a slow worm and so is anguis cephalonnicus. Once again, its a common name that many people have started using. At one point anguis fragilis may have been the only one referred to as slow worm but its not anymore. All in all, just stick to your scientific names and you won’t have any problems.

Sorry to answer a question not directed at me. They are not snakes as they are in fact lizard that simply lack legs, hence legless lizards. They have eyelids something NO snake does and if you look you can see the tail is much more blunt and rounded on these specimens. Also they can drop their tails like other lizards something no snake can do. They are lizards in every sense of the word they simply lack front legs and the back legs are reduced to tiny barley visible stumps. In other words they are not snakes by anymeans whatsoever.

A co-worker of my mother finds them in her yard all the time. She didn’t know what they were so she sent one to me. It ended up being pregnant, thats how I got two. You can not get them out of California and there is a bag limit of one.

They have a different bone structure, diet, eyelids and many other factors that make them lizards and not snakes. I’m to lazy to type it all out again but if you look through this forum there are topics that give info on them.
