 Got the kings/milks switched from mice to ASF’s

I was doing Ball python rescue and had at times up to a dozen bp’s at a time. So I decided to switch from mice and small rats which were pricey and stinky...
I was able to get the smaller kings and milks switched over to f/t and live fuzzy African Soft Fur rats.
I was having difficulty getting my two larger king snakes to go over to ASF"s so I picked up a few mice.. and then tried a trick.
I took a large fuzzy asf baby and rubbed it on a mouse’s rear... and BAM...
we have feeding.. I fed off a live mouse to my female Cal king and then took a same sized ASF ratling and rubbed its head on the mouse’s rear.. Not an easy task since both are still alive at the time.
My Larger Cal kings will not take f/t, so I have to feed live for them.
My female took the ASF with no problem. I am soo proud.
I have three breeding groups now, and all have babies on the ground.
I am going to be taking them to the local pet store soon.

Carol,
How big are the African Soft fur Rat pinkies? Could a hatchling king snake eat one of those?

Well I fed a small one month old milksnake one, and she ate it just fine.
I have also fed that very small albino king snake one, and he ate it just fine as well.
I don’t think a new born snake could take one. The new born to week old pinkie mice are smaller.
But if a young snake can take a larger pinkie, they can take a newborn asf.
I have a ton of frozen pinky mice so I am feeding those off and letting them raise about half of what they give birth to.

The guy who turned me onto SFRs said he has some kings and corns that snub reg. mice and rats but go ballistic for SFRs.
