New Pictures Of my Black Mexican Kingsnake. Last Time I measured He was about 22 inches, so He’s almost/about 2 feet.





Is It possible for someone to guess His/her Sex from this picture?

Nice looking snake. My guess would be male. The female kings i have, the tail seems to ’squeeze in’, but the male is more smooth or continuous. Just my $0.02

Thanks, I’ve been going back and forth on if I think it’s a male or female, And seeing as I don’t have another snake to compare it too I figured I’d see what other people thought.

Really nice MBK you have there.

This is my Artimas. This is the best pic I have so far to describe what Duckmonster was talking about. Artimas’s body is bulky until you get closer to her tail, then it goes skinny like a mouse’s tail.

Is Artimas a female or male?
My snakes tail gets very skinny and is very long as well. The Picture’s just don’t show it. I can get a picture of the whole tail if that would help.

Oh, and by the way Artimas Is very pretty, Like all MBK’s.

This is another way to sex him/her without probing or popping.
The males’ hemipenis can be felt as a little bump, but the female doesnt have any bump. I tried this with my king snake and am more certain than ever that she is a she...no bumps, completely smooth.

I’d agree it looks more like a males tail. I’ve posted these pics before, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll do it again! LOL
Both these snakes have very obvious tails (most aren’t as cut and dry) but you get the idea of the differences between a males tail and a females tail and what to look for.............

Although Mine doesn’t have much of a bulge, he doesn’t have that small of a tail base. He’s also still young, about a year. Do bulges show up more later?

I think they do show up a little later. I’ve noticed on my corn, for instance, that his bulge just became more prominent in the past year, and he’s an ’06 hatchling.

Raven (my MBK above) was sold to me as a female. It wasn’t till he hit about 2-3 years old that it became obvious he wasn’t a she. ;)
