Worlds Smallest king snake Pics soon!

SO I see an add on the CL for 2 snakes and a frog up for adoption. I email the guy and he sends pics. I send some pics of my kings...
HE then tells me that the little Albino Cal king he sent a pic of, not much bigger than a hatchling.. is 2 yrs old.
NO kidding.. WHA?? He said it was a runt, but really ... 2 yrs?
Either he didn’t feed it, or didn’t care for it at all. and it lived. OR I am now the owner of the world’s smallest cal king.
I will get pics. I am in the midst of a move so the camera is put up.
I also got the other snake a apricot puebluan milk snake.

Carol

Once again I wish there was some sort of chart on how long, or how heavy, a snake should be at various stages of growth. I know this is difficult because so much depends on how often they eat and how well they metabolize it.
When I got my wild cali king (from my cat) in May 19, she was about 13 inches long. Now she is about 18 inches long. It is hard to measure her so I have to wait til she stretches out in her tank, and get an estimate, as she never totally stretches, there is always a curve or a slight bend somewhere. She eats once a week, one or two pinkies, and the occasional skink or alligator lizard. I keep forgetting to weigh her, but she is definitely getting thicker. Even my partner, who thinks snakes are about as exciting as earthworms, is impressed with her growth.
When you post a picture of your Lilliput please put something else in the picture, like a penny, so there is something to measure her against.

I just took this photo tonight. The squares are one inch.
I am having a problem unzipping the little program, probably operator error as I am kind of brain dead in the late afternoon, will try again later. It is a great idea; Thanks!!!
I a guestimating her to be 17 to 18 inches long as there is about a half inch between her bands except down near the end of her tail. You’ve got an experienced eye; what do you think?

I am very happy that she is growing so well!
My apologies to Montessa_Python. I didn’t mean to hijack your thread. I am interested in seeing the world’s smallest adult king snake. Your little runt needed a good home for sure.

That IS a tiny snake! Poor little thing. You have undoubtedly rescued this creature, and maybe can fatten him/her up a little. Is it a good feeder? Until you name it I am going to call it Lilliput.LOL.
Being as it is albino, that may have some bearing on it being a runt. In nature albinoism is a negative mutation and creatures born with that defective gene often have other defects as well. Maybe Lilliput has faulty metabolism, hence the tiny size.

L.Roy, what other signs besides the small size are you using to determine Lilliput is a 2 month old baby? It looks fragile and new, but the albinoism could be a big part of that perception. Also, it seems that the guy who originally had the snake would want to refer to it as a baby as that would be more desirable than an older snake, I would think.

Hmm, I really doubt that your albino Cali can be 2 years old. I think it looks very much like a hatchling. This here pic I took today shows a hatchling California kingsnake "reverse spotted" just hours after emerging from the egg, 10.5 inches long.

Gotcha!
Not only is the coloring different, the two year old is stouter and the scales seem more raised. The photo of your snake as a baby looks exactly like Montessa_Python’s little snake.
I wonder why the guy would try to pass off a little hatchling as a two year old runt. A hatchling is most desirable, unlike a stunted runt.

here is a quote from the guy...

Quote:

i have attatched a pic of each of my animals. the snakes are both around 2 years olds but the albino is about the size of a 6 month old because it was the runt of its litter. i am looking to get $100 for all three animals and feel that you would be able to give them a good home. let me know what you think and if you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask.

He obviously doesn’t know the size of a 6 month old snake either.
BUT he knows the person who bred the snake. That person either runs or owns an alligator feeding and reptile shop in the Wisonsin Dells, a tourist area.
That same person has a spotted king snake, like the other one shown on this thread...And that breeder doesn’t know what it is called....

Hey L.Roy,
That is a great example of how an albinos coloration changes over time. When Ferocia was brand new, she was a very definite pink with a yellow stripe. When she ate, you could see the pinkie mouse inside her, kinda like a dark shadow. But now all that pink is turning white. And she is just getting better looking all the time.
