 YAY!!

As some of you know one of my eastern hognose dided a few weeks ago and i dont know what killed her but i think it was something that the frod ate or it might have had pestisides on it but i caught some frogs last night after it rained and i went and bought 2 fully grown mice today and i put the frogs into a 5 gal aquaium for a few minutes to get the scent in it then i took and rubbed the frog onto the mice and i got both of my hoggies to eat mice so i dont haft to worry about what the mouse has on it or what it ate i took pictures of them eating but i think the photo thing is down right now but ill have pictures on here as soon as possible

 YAY!!

That is good news!
Ziggy’s death was not a total waste, as at least you learned a new thing about snake husbandry.
I keep a colony of western fence lizards to scent pinkies for my cali king, although that is no longer necessary as she eats them unscented now. Pretty soon I will have Arizona Mt. king babies, and will do the lizard scenting with them if needed.
Besides, I like my lizards as pets, too, so I will keep them regardless.
Are you going to keep the frogs so you always have the scent available in case you get a snake during times frogs are scarce?

Yea ill probably keep them because the male eastern i have i caught him in late fall and i only had enough frogs for the 2 females i had so i ran out a couple months early but yea i was really suprised they even ate the mice cause they have a whole different tecture and scent to them compared to a toad and thanks Leo

Great job Hatchet Man,
i’ve been told that it can be nearly impossible to convert eastern hoggies to rodents.

somebody i know bought some kind of baby albino western hoggie for $1400.00 well it never ate pinks and then he tried to force feed it and it croaked, man that was a rip-off!
that guy don’t know what he’s doing anyway and he wastes his money on all kinds of expensive snakes that he knows nothing about, and he’s too stupid to get involved with a forum, lol! some idiots never learn, lol!!!
well anyway congratulations again for getting your hoggies to eat rodents.

Well, Hatchet_man,
You’ve got a long walk from Tennessee!
You could maybe look into keeping pyros, like Arizona Mt. kings, who are also tri-colored, although a lot smaller, unfortunately, if you are into big beefy snakes like hognoses. The one in this guy’s website photo is a chunky fellow for sure!
