 Samantha, my albino cali king.

Some of you may remember several weeks ago I posted about some wounds on her back that didn’t go away after her first shed. Then, a week later, she attempted a great escape and was pinched badly on her lower half. I was given the useful advice here to check her body for consistent temp. above and below the wound.

This is just an update! Samantha is doing great and had her second shed today. Her scabby scales from both the mysterious wound and from her great escape are healed and shedded away, and her skin is flawless! She’s just around 28 inches long now (from the whopping 18 inches when I purchased her from the reptile show a few months ago.) This Saturday the reptile show will be in town yet again and I’ll be getting her new mice. The 30 pinkies I got on her purchase date are running out just in time! I’ll be getting a bag of 100 frozen large pinkies and two 100 count bags of frozen peach fuzzies. Hopefully they’ll last her through the year!

I still have no access to a digital camera, but I will have a photo shoot as soon as I can get my hands on one! Samantha is an albino banana banded cali king, she’s absolutely beautiful!

Thanks for the update, OctopusInc! I’m glad Samantha is okay. My little snake has healed completely from the cat bites, too. I wish us humans could heal and shed like that!
What sort of lid arrangement have you got now to avoid a repeat of her attempted escape?

 Samantha, my albino cali king.

She’s in a 29 gallon aquarium with a folding mesh steel lid. Previously only a heating light weighed down the lighter half (an old aquarium light hood is on the other half, although rarely active, it’s plenty of weight.) Now I’ve added a pile of my college textbooks on the lighter side, it’s impossible she’ll escape at her current size.

I have a 50 gallon reptile tank with a latching mesh top lid. Currently it contains turtles that I’m trying to rehome, once they’re gone Samantha gets the big tank!

An albino banana banded cali king? I don’t know if I’ve seen one of those before. I hope you post a pic soon. Maybe a friend with a camera phone? They don’t make for the best pics but good enough for me!

I have a digital camera, just have to find it.

By albino banana kingI mean she’s an albino king with bands, and said bands are banana in color.
