Id help hey. i found a baby snake and i’m pretty sure it is a mole kingsnake but i just wanted to make sure. and if it is do you know anything about caring for them? i’ve looked online but there isn’t any information about how to take care of them. i think he might have escaped from somebody’s house because he is used to eating frozen pinkies and doesn’t mind having hands in his cage. thanks!

Id help Habits: Mole kingsnakes are rarely seen in the wild since they tend to be fossorial, spending much of their time underground and out of sight. As a result, there is little known about the biology and status of these secretive snakes. Most mole kingsnakes are observed hiding under boards or other debris or crossing roads on warm evenings. Like other kingsnakes mole kings eat a variety of prey including small mammals, lizards, birds, and other snakes. Mating takes place in late spring to early summer. Up to 17 eggs are laid underground in early to mid summer. Eggs hatch in late summer to early fall.
Link
This type of king snake is nocturnal and likes to mostly stay burrowed into the ground, so I don’t think it would appreciate as much handling as kings who are diurnal. You could try handling it in the evening when it would be most likely to be active.

Id help If the colors I’m seeing on my screen are correct, He is one of the most unusually colored moles I have seen. Our prairie kings here are more of a greenish brown as they age. Be sure and keep him. Is he eating good for you?

Id help He’s a nice mole king. They are quite variable throughout heir range and many will wash out to an almost patternless look as they age. My northern FL and NC animals are really red. GA animals tend to look a bit like yours and lighten up. Is yours a SC animal?
