This is a link to the USDA for nutritional values of prey animals, so you can compare the various types, including beef versus mouse.

The thing about sausages you won’t know if they will always be avaliable since they are a specilty item whereas mice will always be avaliable. So it might be hard to get them feeding on mice again if you run out.

On the website for the sausages they don’t say the price. I bet it’s pretty expensive, in the long run more costly than mice. Also the USDA breakdown of nutritional values for mice versus beef are really different. If the sausage makers made their sausages out of lizards, maybe it would make more sense. But then the price would be astronomical! Or they could make the sausages out of mice. Beef just doesn’t seem like a good choice. Chicken would even be better than beef, since snakes will eat chicks, but unless it is an anaconda I don’t see it eating any sort of cow.
Anyway, I thought this whole thing was pretty hilarious!

Snake Sausages have been around for a few years. Some say they are o.k. but I have not tried them with my snakes.

There is just one more thing I have to say.....don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. That’s an old southern saying and in this case it’s very true. Why switch your snakes diet to something less available, less healthy, and more expensive than mice? But whatever, people are crazy these days, huh?

And MilkY_king, you are absolutely right about if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! This thread could veer off into a rant about stick shift versus automatic, dyes in cat food, other dumb innovations...I believe, keep it simple!
