 Mealworm Shortage?!?

The pet store near me is out of mealworms, and has a sign telling of the "Nation Wide Mealworm Shortage." I’m in Central Illinois. First, I thought that was crazy, then I saw the post from Florida talking about it. Just curious, I’d like to get some input from all over - is there a mealworm shortage where you are? Does anyone know what the scoop is?

here is a link to the mealworm cousins, they are alittle smaller but more active. There is no shortage at this site.

 Mealworm Shortage?!?

There is one. I’m from NY and I work at a pet store. We’ve gotten in one container (thats 50 worms) in the past 4 weeks. None of the stores by me have them either.
Our sister store just got in 8 containers and there was practically a party over it. They were all bought up by the next day.
I’ve heard different things concerning the shortage. From a few people I heard there was some sort of flood, but then in a few small articles I read it had something to do with what they were keeping them on, and in others it said that they would just die.
Its really weird and I feel badly for my friend who has bats. Mealworms are all they eat.
