YES, especially new iguanas to the house / environment...they are scared and secretive ...make sure there is plenty of stuff to hide behind ...like fake foliage ...dollar store plastic plants and vines ... offer food at night and see if it gets eaten partially or completely...

It can take a couple weeks sometimes.

what food are you offering and are the temps warm enough to stimulate appetite and digestion??

He could be too cold or not getting enough full spectrum UV light!
If they dont get it from the sun (windows block 90percent of it so thats not sufficient) then they MUST have a good, full spectrum reptile light.

Also, if the temperature is below 90-95 degrees in the enclosure, he will not want to eat.

Haven’t been on here in awhile

Slanth, FYI glass blocks 100% of UVB...
Fine mesh window screen blocks 50%
and a typical critter keeper mesh tank top...about 30%

Measured with my Solarmeter 6.2

6.2

Good luck out there....

yes, I mentioned that glass blocks UV, hence the need for a UV light.

I put my light right inside the enclosure. I don’t have screen, I have something that looks like plastic chicken wire, without the wire inside. About 1" squares. I let her get natural sunlight by moving her into a 6’tall by 4x3’ PVC cage, with the same kind of plastic "chicken wire."

Thanks for the link, I will get one of those Solarmeters to check on the UV levels.
How many hours a day do you keep your light on? I’m going about 11-12, but I’m not sure if that’s too much. The vet said at least 10 a day.

Sometimes adult males will go off their feed during the breeding season. Their behavior remains otherwise norman other than a ting more territorial.
