I just got a iguanna well, you’re getting better on the diet. lose the carrots; they’re an "occasional" for igs. go to the food chart at green ig society; it tells you what to feed and why (also what not to feed and why not). annie has her ig salad posted here somewhere; i’ll see if i can find it and bump it up for you. my donatello doesn’t like it; i never tried it on lily. i just kept the squash and green beans part, and i feed them other assorted veggies to make sure they get everything they need.
yeah, the freezing in one spot is absolutely normal. he’s scared. igs hate change, and when you think about it, you’re his third owner already. he’ll eat when he relaxes some. make sure he has a place to do so in relative private. if he freezes when you look at him, he might not be ready to eat at all in your line of sight.
get to work building a cage; that 37-gallon will last him about 5 minutes. igs need space, at least 6ft high by 2ft by 3ft, and that’s a minimum. if you build that small, you will need to build another w/i the next year or so. if you’re not a builder (i’m not), check craigslist--they have cages real cheap a lot. also, i got my giant bird cage off freecycle. so there are ways around the construction thing.
good luck with him; be patient and he’ll become an amazing friend.
jesse
p.s.--what’s a connor bowl?

I just got a iguanna Of course we care ...that’s good news. I am so excited that our new critter is pooping in the tub every time I get him in there ....LOL
I get a kick out of seeing him devour his food ...poor guy has never had greens all his life from what I have learned...people can be such idiots!
I hug him every time I see him and squeeze em tight ...I take em to family gatherings and dote over him all the time...MAX is awesome!!
He will get the best I have to give ...

Good luck with yours...

I just got a iguanna I have only had this Iguana for a week...I found out that he is a male ...and thought it was female...because others told me so. But his color as an adult can change during breeding season to the more orange and brown colors ....in a few weeks or a month I will know better.
Put a picture up so we can see.

I just got a iguanna wow, max is gorgeous! and so sweet! i’m just starting to let lily near my face. she was really mean for a long time. he’s your first iguana? be warned: something about an iguana changes your heart. i’m around "normal" people all the time. i hold ’em down and force them to look at pics of my babies. they say stuff like, "he’d make good soup" (the best thing to do with that one is ignore it) or "how can you stand that thing?" i have to admit, the first time my EX-bf handed me ’tello, i was unimpressed. i love all critters, so i was kind to it, but i’d never really met one beyond brief encounters. when the bf and i broke up, i cried over the thought of losing the iguana (and i didn’t!).
2die4, hon, we care very much about your iguana. make sure you keep us updated. it’s good that he’s eating; they often don’t when new. read, read, read, and do what we suggest. you’ll have a great pet for a long time to come.

I just got a iguanna Thanks Jesse ...it means a lot to hear that ...I am very lucky that he was exposed to so many people in his past life on display at a pet store...free roaming for the most part...it’s not exactly clear...But I do know all he was fed was canned green beans and beardie pellets.
I have loved all your Igg’s and Annies and ...many others as I lurked off the side waiting and wanting an Iggy ...I need to start a thread ..I need ideas for set up.. and climbing / exercise equipment ....maybe your Jim can help me swim through all the many thoughts I have and come to a decision of what to construct ..and save me some back pedaling. I hate to do things 3x over. Pm me if this is something you want to help with.

I just got a iguanna Oh wow, he’s pretty big already! You’re definitely going to want to get him in a bigger cage and FAST. Everyone here has already mentioned the diet on green ig society so just go by that he’ll be nice and happy and healthy.
I don’t know if you mentioned this already, but you need a UVB light for him as well. You can find them fairly inexpensive on some sites online but I use a 10.0 UVB light AND bring my ig outside for about 45 minutes each day.
Another thing is substrate and temps. You never mentioned what you were using?

I just got a iguanna i have all the lights but for the day n nite i just change back and forth i need to buy another lamp.but i have all the bulbs.he is still a lil worried of me. but today i took him out n i was just trying to see if hell eat slized carrots from my hand. he allowed me to feed him. after i let him down to roam about the room. n wen i was ready to put him back he started to shake his tail but didnt whip it. so i put his face against mine n he relaxed n i put him back in his tank n he started to look sleepy.but hes been better since i started allowing him to roam around the room.

I just got a iguanna Yeah, I dont know if I’d put my new baby iguana anywhere near my face for I’d say a few months at least. Well, I don’t know I still dont trust my iggs. They arent like cats and dogs, you cant usually tell when they dont want to be messed with until theyre bobbing their heads at you or trying to tail whip you. My youngest actually opens his mouth like hes going to bite and weve had him for a few years. hes only bit my boyfriend once, and it was over the summer, he’d been laying outside all day and jack wasnt patient enough with him. I’d be careful.

I just got a iguanna they are moody little buggers. i don’t think a thing of donatello being near my face; he’s always been the tamest thing ever. but lily is another matter. that’s a big mouth, and i’ve been nailed good by her once. she’s starting to like to crawl up my front so her front paws are on my shoulder, but i get real nervous of her head that close to my face. it depends on her mood, though, and i’m getting better at reading her. sunday night she sat with me for the longest time, snuggled against my cheek while i rocked her. last night she wanted nothing to do with me! the best advice i can give there is pay attention and really learn your iguana’s body language. they’ll tell you plenty if you know what to look for.
