Doesn’t anything eat snails?
we have all these critters who eat the most crawly and obnoxious things imaginable; NONE of them eat snails? when i first came to texas, i thought the snails here were cute. they’re the little cone-shaped spirally kind, instead of the big, round ones. i have been fighting the dang snails since i moved into my trailer two years ago. this year, because of the nearly constant rain, they’re especially bad. geez, they’re all over the flippin’ sidewalk, all over the porch, the grass, MY GARDEN (!!!!!!!), crawling up the sides of the house...it’s positively nightmarish. you can’t take a step outside without crunching the horrid things underfoot. what is obviously needed here is some sort of critter who just thinks snails are delicious! it would be both handy and economical. i’d like to put in an order for a couple of those, please. jesse |

ok, well, this is special. in reading about the predator (or decollate) snails, my question was, then how do you get rid of the decollate snails? it does mention that decollate snails will lay eggs and multiply, so you should probably get fewer than you actually think you need. this is going somewhere, i promise. the article shows a picture of a pile of snail-eating snails that looked suspiciously familiar. upon reading further, i am warned, "unless you live in texas or some california counties, the decollate snail is, sadly, not an option." so i decide (with foreboding in my heart) that i need to find a closer up picture of these snails. i found one. i found several. see this?
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SEVEN MILLION OF IN MY YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WONDER WE DON’T HAVE THOSE PLAIN, OLD ROUND SNAILS IN TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!! OUR SNAILS ATE ’EM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I see you have read the info ...and I guess i misunderstood it..I thought if you lived in TX or Cal. you could use the decolate snails...I used them... The other options are Iron phosphate a non toxic way to kill them ...or any scrap copper laid on the ground / in the ground will create a small electric current and they will not cross it. The google info I linked you too is full of these suggestions. Cp |
