 Questions questions questions

Ok, I know quite a bit about lizards, espeicially leopard geckos and i have owned one iguana many years ago. Now that Im on my own Iv been doing alot of thinking about the responsibilities and of course the expenses of this scaley creature and I have a few questions about the RIGHT things to do in preperation of having an iguana until its ripe old age, in other words ill have him until he passes.

Ill be starting out with the ’normal’, i guess you can say, pet store iguana age, so young basically. Now heres the thing, Im looking to start out with a 55 to 50 gallon tank. Now how long will that be able to contain an iguana. What age and or length of lizard? I do have plans on making a cage when it does out grow that tank. More questions to come after this one is answered lol

Answer to your ? about the tank.....Well it’s not going to last very long..if you get a hatchling it may last for 3 months maybe...a lot depends on how fast s/he grows....With a proper diet and environment they will grow like a weed....

you can look on Craigslist in your area to see if a cage is already available. Do disinfect it outside with half bleach/water and then just water and let dry before letting iggy inside. replace all logs and climbing ropes as they can hide bacteria inside them. Lots of the iggy folks have use the white wire shelving pieces to sucess. It took my iggy some time as he could see through them--i put a fence picket on top and he’s better now--but he climbs easily and confidently again.

Well, I made up my mind and wont acually be getting an iguana any time soon, I decided that if I cant really afford at the moment to feed myself, how in the heck am i going to be able to feed a six foot lizard in a year, so maybe later in life, but not now. I have plans to get fish now...a little cheaper to feed lol Maybe Ill post some pictures of them when I get them ^-^
