HELP ASAP PLZ!! 
my friend just gave me his very sick iguana im thinkin it has MBD it has never had a UVB which i am gettin 2mor..it has swollen thigh and swollen jaw i have it right now on a UVA light (best i can do at the moment) but my question is..i also have a bearded dragon in the same room diffrent cage though..can my beardy catch what the iggy has? plz answer asp im verrrry worried about both my babies i want to help the iggy but dnt want my beardy sick

Hi welcome to the iggy forum,
If it’s just MBD..No MBD is not contagious.....Best thing to do is wash your hands after handling the iggy....
Now far as rehabbing this iggy....You need to get him started on some Calcium Gluconate (liquid) and get a good uvb light..even take him out in the sun for about 20 min a day....Is he eating at all..if so whats his diet? He is most likely dehydrated too....so give him some warm baths.....and see if he’ll drink for you..if not you may have to force some fluids....Oh what are his temps & humidity levels?
Do you have any pictures of him to post?

hi :) um well hes been on green beans and carrots sumtimes fruits..um idk really..but when i brought him home last night i feed him some blended up green beans and mustard greens with water from a syringe (hope im doing things right i dont no alot on iggy’s) no he hasnt been eatin alot bcuz of the swollen jaw he cant open his mouth im not sure on the humidity level but the temp is about 90 or so..i apperciate every1s help i no little about iggys and every piece of advice will help to save this little guy..thanks

in all my worryin i 4got to mention..its tail is black almost all the way up..the person i got him from says it has alwys been that way but as he grow the black went down farther..im thinkin its gangrene can my beardy catch that??!?!?!! im washin my hands with alcohol after i touch my igg..i no im actin like a annoyin crazy lady but i am very worried about both of them i just wanna keep them both healty

gangrene isn’t catching, but fungus is. only a vet can tell you for sure what is causing the black tail. you need to get that ig to one, quick. also, MBD hurts. get a UVB immediately so the little guy can start to heal.

just thought i’d let everyone no that the iggy is doing lots better..i got him a UVB and corrected his temps and he is even lifting his whole body and head and moving around now before he just layed there..thanks 4 all your help :)

do call a local vet who specializes in iguanas and ask about the tail thing. send them a picture if you can. scrape up some money and take your iggy in for an inspection. MBD can be reversed but if his tail is dead, he can die too.
do this asap or all your efforts will be lost.
