 Sam update

Aside from the not eating, Sam is clearly unwell, He is just lying in a very cool spot all day long today, His vet was called and was not in and we left a message, We will take him tomorrow or to another vet if this one cannot see him. I am sick with a bug and have one ELL of a stressful week so this has me bawling my eyes out, I adore this lizard with all my heart and soul.

Thanks Burm and Bret. He is acting like he did when he had the infection this past Winter so taking no chances and he will see the vet hopefully tomorrow or at latest on Thursday. Maybe the stress of his moving into this new hab was just too overwhelming for him. I do so love this creature!

Thanks Annie, the vet called this morning, He has nothing available today BUT if we feel it is an emergency can bring him in tonight and it would be an extra 50.00 or he can see him 6:30pm on Friday. I guess we will see how Sam seems today to deem it an emergency or not, Odd thing is though that he is going into a very cool spot as opposed to staying in the hot spot which I find to be odd. His eyes are clear this morning and he did get up and flare his dewlap when he saw my green robe (it is nippy in the morning) anyway thankyou and I will of course let you and all know what the vet says. He will most likely take blood so that will be another weekend wait in itself.

Today, Wednesday update: Sam is good today! This quirky lizard is going to be the death of me hehe
He is alert and active and even ate a collard leaf and went to the bathroom a little, Not much on the food but it is better than none, Oddly, he wants nothing to do with his squash but I guess he feels like he just needs a little of the greens right now,

Anyway, got an appt for the vet on Friday just to get him checked out and also get his calcium and phosphorous levels as well.
I promise not to be a pain in the update department unless I HAVE to be ;)

Thanks again for the prayers...perhaps they truly did help,

hang in their tone. i am sure he will be ok. maybe he just needed some extra time to acclimatize to his new enclosure, and figure out where the best spots to hang out are. he may have been overwhelmed, by the size and all that space... hopefully he keeps improving, and the vet check shows him to be healthy, and onery scaring his mommy like that!! bad sam!! lol i know how you feel though, i thought i was going to lose my beardie atilla a while back, and i went through he!@ to nurse her and get her to hang in their... it would kill me to lose any of my babies.. i will keep you guys in my thoughts. good luck at the vet

Thanks CJ and Fire,

Sam is still not eating anything more than a few bites of a collard which I have to hold and that is okay, Not that he is a big eater to begin with inspite of the massive list of foods I buy even calculating ratios and such,, Yeah I am a tad TOO obsessive with him. He is alert but still quirky and now does not like to be touched much at all though I am in there constantly misting him and making sure he drinks, He will never be a lizard to hold just to have so no have and to hold kind of thing haha said that cause Ant says dumb things like "You’d marry that lizard if you could" I really wouldn’t it is a Mother and son kind of love so he is way off ;)
Anyway appt is tomorrow evening. Not sure if Ant and his GF is taking him or if my son and I are going, I get too riled up so I am better off being home and tomorrow starts out to be a rough day for me anyway.

Yeah I talk TOO much

Saturday update ( I should just start a Sam blog)
Ant spoke to the vet yesterday and the vet said to hold off on bringing him in as all sounded okay inspite of his not eating, He said to call on Monday if we feel that we need the appointment and we will get him in,

Sam is still barely eating, A few bites here and there but is defecating normally which is a good thing, He is very alert and still goes into wild child mode for a brief time which brings back memories though it is only a couple of weeks,,,,haha I am spraying him about 20 times a day and he is drinking. His entire tail just went into a shed and now his little hands are webbing but he usually goes through it and gets it done with quickly,
My son and I were gone for a few hours yesterday as I had to go take care of some business and Ant took the ride with me and when we came home this lovable lizard jumped onto my shoulder and licked my face. Now that is LOVE. We are together all the time since I have been home, I am going to go through separation anxiety when I return to work,,,

Anyway just updating that he is doing "OK". I still need to get some full body pics. He turned 2 last month and if I measured him correctly, he is 42 inches little nosey to tail. He just needs some bulk to him, Maybe now that he is calming down it will happen,,,if he eats that is :)

Tone im glad Sam is starting to better.. ill keep him in my prayer’s
on another note. i live in Allentown Pa , .. and about a hour away there’s a amazing reptile guy I know he works for a vet
i take all my reptiles to him and he seems to know what hes doing real well.
you go to a vet he checks your friend and then you like talk to him for 1 hour along with the visit hes amazing in my opinion
i would be more then happy to Pm you if your interested in him.
he done surgery on my one leopard gecko sucessfully , and has met mel and my old iguana jackie in the past im super pleased with him.

but if you like your vet thats ok too :)
but all goes i hope sams ok :)... im sure he will be ok

You know what Tone this just came to mind..Is your weather getting cooler...it’s getting pretty close to breeding season for these guys..I know Gilly’s has gone off his feed and Ginger & Squiggy are turning orange...(just on their legs) and they are eating me out of house and home and Squirt is gravid...yes my little Squirt that I thought was male is a girl.....so now I’ve got 4 female iggys to worry about plus my dragons...but this might have something to do with it.....

Hi Christina, If I ever get a better car I will take you up on that, The vet we see knows his stuff and he is also a surgeon but his bedtime manner so to speak just downright bites. You cannot talk to him. HE talks and does so quite quickly and that is that and it is goodbye, I know he is very busy but still..
But as I said if things improve or someone gets me a nice car (haha) I will definitely ask you for that vet info, Thankyou so much!!

Annie, you know Sam was never a great eater to start with inspite of my providing a wonderful diet for him. Yes, it gets quite chilly at night, He just has no interest in eating besides a couple of organic blueberries and a few bites of collard which has to be whole leaf that I hold and FREAKIN BEG (never the stem of course and I really do PLEAD with him). Does not want his squash for nothing which is strange as he only wanted that before,
He has no orange coloring at all. More green and brownish? and not a brown stress kind of color just HIS color. I tell ya though this lizard could win a tail contest, He has the most beautiful tail...hehe yeah I am biased.
He is sleeping in a cool spot which is behind his bowls along the side of the enclosure and actually it seems that he is going there around 8pm when he gets tired, He wakes up early, His bedtime has been 9:30 but I told Ant that we need to start gradually shortening that getting back to 9 since the weather is changing. I so want to move someplace WARM!

Anyway, thankyou so much and I will keep all posted. Perhaps Ant will get some pics today,,,that is of Sam of course ;)
