If you just got him, he needs to acclimate. You need to leave him be for a few weeks. Make sure that of course you put fresh food and water but do not handle him. Just be around so that he gets used to seeing you without you trying to grab him.

Hi Jared,

You just got your iggy on Sat.............. He needs to acclimate .....Leave him alone don’t even try and touch him just put your hand in there to feed and water him...don’t leave your hand in there...just food & water...do this for about a week and a half and then start putting your hand in there more..but DON’T touch him, Just move his food dish around and water act like your doing something but don’t touch him..do this for about another week...and then after that now you can start touching him but don’t try and pick him up..do this for about 4 or 5 days and then when you go to hold him/ pick him up...Don’t go from above, go underneath his belly and just hold him in his enclosure...do this for a few days.......I know this takes awhile but it’s worth it...

My two famous words are "Time & Patience" So just be patience....

X2! Don’t be anxious! If you try to rush taming your Ig, you’re going to end up frustrated and your Ig will probably end up not trusting you, stressed and defensive.

I totally agree with Pocochu, NEVER come at your IG from above! Iguanas are arborial in the wild, that is they hang out in trees, the only things that come at them from above are sunlight and things that want to eat them...
