 Question about pedro!

do iguanas leave there mouth open for like more then five seconds..like it wasn’t a yawn..and i oped his mouth to make sure there wasn’t even mouth rot his mouth is nice and pink inside! and he wasn’t panting and i had him out laying with me for like an hour before he did it. so i know he wasn’t over heated. and his nose and eyes are clear....does anyone elses iggy do this?? im just being the usual worried mother lol.

Hey Kelly,

Unusual mouth gapping could be a sign of overheating but Sam does it every now and then. He will sit there with his mouth open and I will tell him to close it haha. Sometimes he just does it for no reason and other times when he is a little irritated like most of the time lately since he is trying to get used to his new home. Maybe Annie or someone will tell you more but I doubt it is anything. Trust me, I am obsessive with him and if I thought for a second it was something abnormal, I would have been in a panic.

thanks tone..i hope its nothing i dunno it was open.. not like all the way but definetly could tell it was open he is eating like a big as usual this morning so i dunno probably is nothing! lol.. thanks for the advice.

ok ino this sounds weird but my ig was beside me when i was dryin my hair with the hairdryer, my ig felt the breeze and opened her mouth...could there of been a breeze when ur ig opened its mouth cause that could be y?

hmm well i was laying on the couch and pedro was on my chest and the only breeze i can think of is the fan was on...but thats all i can think of but its not that strong i wouldnt think..but it could be! im keeping a close eye on him! thanks for your help..i hope its just something normal!

I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless he starts doing it a lot..Mine do it from time to time.....so just keep an eye on him..............
