 Fire ants.... can HL’s eat them?

You know it is kinda scary, but I think we have fire ants at the barn where I board my horses...
I grabbed some, and put them in a tupperware container so haven’t found anything one way or another if an HL can eat them...
Just wondering.

I do. He seems fine. They both sting and they are both ants so why not.

I couldn’t stomach his soap box grandstanding.
I was going to send her to him, but logistically my post office couldn’t get her there in the time period he wanted. And I couldn’t spend 50 to send her via UPS or Fed Ex...
I told him I would keep her and unjoined from his group... he then proceeded to berate me rather nastily via email....
I am on another group now and getting harvester ants for my gal.
She is healthy, happy and doing great.

No fire ants, or orange ants of any kind, they will kill horned lizards, but keep in mind, they do like other bugs and ants, black ants are fine, as well as red and black ants, just no fire or solid orange ants..........

Can they live on the black ants, or does it have to be Red harvester ants.

I’ve been trying to get a queen harvest ant but no luck at all...

ONLY harvester ants. Don’t risk any other species. Harvester ants have folic acid that is helpful to strengthen their immune system. I don’t have time to go into great detail, but harvester ants are their main food item. Too many of any other insect species can kill your horned lizard by impaction.

There is another HL group? Is it the HLCS?

If you ever decide to give your pet away, I live in the perfect native habitat for horned toads. I have two enormous harvester ant beds on my property which I have carefully protected and even cultivated by feeding birdseed occasionally. It would be Horned Toad Heaven. They used to live in this territory by the tens of thousands. Now, I haven’t seen one in years. I would love to start a little protected colony.

no you should not feed them fire ants because there excotic and th horned lizards arnt amuned to there
venom you should buy harvester ants
