Woo! 6 months and no problems.....yet. Not saying there will be, but there’s no need to get cocky about it. Also, nobody said you CAN’T have a wild hognose. We told you it is more risky than buying a CB western Hognose. Wild caught animals feel more stress, can carry all kinds of nasty parasites, and can be harder to handle in general. Also, it’s better to support the economy, ecosystem, and your friendly neighborhood reptile breeders by buying rather than taking from the wild. Glad you’re so proud of yourself though. Sheesh!

So you’ve had your wild hognose snake for 6 months and no problem. Pretty good. But you never know if something could happen to your wild hognose snake. Post some pictures for me, please.

Let me get this straight...you found a species of snake that is already extremely well-established captivity and available captive-bred at a price anyone could afford...SO you decided the best thing to do would be take it from the wild and keep it as a pet, which has done well for the past 6 months you have had it.

Well, you should be very proud of yourself! One less snake in the wild so you can have a pet and not pay for it. Congratulations.

Well, Congrats even though it was caught out of the wild. People really shouldn’t take them out of the wild. It’s like taking you out of your house and shoving you in a tiny room and feeding you the same thing over and over. I hate people that kidnap snakes.

All about snake, they’re are plenty IN CAPTIVITY!!! We are not jerks, we just care for the wild hogs. My turtle is wild caught, but that’s because my neighbor’s dog tried to attack him. He’s fine, and once he’s bigger, I plan to release him where he belongs. IN THE WILD!!! I understand you were worried, I would be too, I probably would have picked him up too, but I would have only kept him through the winter then released him. It’s for the best that he’s out in the wild to reproduce so that Hogs don’t become one of the many endangered animals. I just hope you decide based on what’s best for him, not what you want.
