 Good price?

Okay so i was looking through craigslist today. I know craigslist isnt the best place for reptiles but i found a baby pair of hogs. From the pictures they appear very healthy and look good. Now the for both snakes it was 100 dollars. Is that a good price? And since they are male/female, could i house them together? Could they be kept in a 20 long together? Thanks,

Justan

There are a couple threads just below this one that address both of your questions. You should check them out

$100 for pair is good, you might be able to talk them down even more.

20 gallon is fine for adult snake, I’d keep a baby in something smaller like a 10gallon or Kritter Keeper. I never recommend keeping snakes together. It causes problems.

Glad to have you in the forum, but next time please check previous threads for answers to your questions, especially if they are posted at the top of the thread list.

With hatchlings I’d go even smaller than a 10 gallon. I’ve known hatchlings who were good feeders in a smaller enclosure become difficult to feed in a larger (10 gallon ect) setup. If you do keep them in a larger tank, keep it simple so that you might be able to predict where the snake will spend much of its time, such as in a small hide, and can feed in the same place in or around the hide. Or feed in a separate and smaller container such as a plastic deli container. That’s not to say that some keepers won’t do excellent with hatchlings in a 10 or 20 gallon enclosure, depending on their skill level with feeding and the feeding response of their particular snake. If you keep hatchlings in the same container, obviously don’t leave food items unattended in the cage.

As for the price of a pair, I’ve never seen a 1.1 pair advertised for less than $100
