 Need Info!!

I’ve had hermit crabs before but its been a while. I’m looking to get some more again and I just need to know if its ok for me to just get a heating mat or will I need to get a light as well. Thanks!

I’ve been told different things about both but I think a heating mat is better. Heat lamps tend to lower the humidity, which you want to keep high. If you can keep the humidity high even with a heat lamp, then go for it. And for heat mats, as long as the heat mat isn’t too hot then it shouldn’t be a problem if crabs bury down to it. Just watch the temperature. This also depends on the temperatures where you live. If you live in a cold climate I would definitely say both. Make sure they are at about 80 degrees, and never below 75 degrees.

I have hermit crabs! On almost all the websites ive read it says not to use a heat mats because they can get to hot and cant turn off. My hermit crabs have been doing great with just a heat lamp!
