new babies.....Just got them today..........the spider man already changed out of his shell and than changed into another one he is crazy...guess he is trying to find a shell that fits how her wants it to lol.....they are intersting creatures.......

Congrats!!! Let them get out of the painted shells, they are bad for them. Keep your tat clean with good humidiy and u will have happy hermies! Good luck! :)

so another painted shell out of the aquarium!!!! YAY!!!! One stubburn lil guy left he hasnt changed yet and still in painted but has lots of new shells to choose from that arent painted They where in a temporary 5 gallon seeing as how they where so small....only had them 2 days so far......so today they go into their new finiall home a 20 gallon!!!!! With shells to change into if they feel the need to! This guys are interesting!

Painted gravel is like a painted shell. I would recommend getting new substrate. But it does look pretty, lol.

I got one stubburn lil guy left....any advice? is there any way to get them to change shells? I have alot of shells in there for them to choose from all diffrent sizes....two out of the three crabs have switched and they actually switched 2 or 3 times till they where comfy i guess

i have cocnut fiber now so not messing around with the sand or gravel....sand is to messy and gravel was a temporie thing till the pet store got the cocnt fiber in.....is there anything i can do about the one lil guy that hasnt changed out of his painted shell....raising the temps or anything like that? i just worry about him in that nasty painted shell!

Take all of your empty shells and boil them in dechlorinated water for 5 minutes, then rinse them with cool fresh dechlorinated water to remove any sand, grit, poo, or anything else that might be inside them. Then place them in the designated shell area in your tank and mix up some salt water (the type used for fish, NOT table salt or anything else that’s not packaged for fish) and pour it over the freshly boiled/rinsed shells. The clean shells w/ salt water on them usually attracts the picky shell changers. Good luck!
