 Weird coloring in gecko’s tail

help me!! my gecko all of a sudden started to freak out when i tried to pick him up and he has never done that and his tail is all of a sudden turning a spotty white color on it what is wrong with him please help me

Is it a grayish white color?? The little one might be going into a shed, and sometimes they get cranky when they do, and don’t wanna be bothered at all.

Maybe a pic would help?

Herman is very cute, and looks like he is coming into another shed to me, so I wouldn’t worry about it, just make sure his temps and humidity are right :)

i would change the substrate as well...sand is irritating, and could be a reason for extra shedding if his skin doesn’t feel well.

When Elmo is shedding he usually hisses at me. I also agree aout the substrate coconut fiber is a better alterantive.
