HELP my fat tail is SICK

I’ve had my fait tail for almost 4 years and have never had a problem. He’s always eaten well, usually about 12-18 large dusted crickets every 10-14 days.

For the last two feedings, he has only eaten about 6-8 crickets. He’s gotten EXTREMELY skinny and can barely hold himself up. He ate again 2 days ago, and this morning I woke up to find he had thrown up all that he had eaten. He just finished shedding today as well.

His tail has gotten tiny and he’s shrunken in all over. I’m so worried...what do I do?

I forgot to mention. I cleaned his tank out today and when I went to put him back, he snapped at me several times and bit down pretty hard twice on my hand.

are you giving him calcium supplements as well as vitamins? try feeding small crickets first(for about a week and a half) then go to larger ones.

it is almost positively an intestinal parasite he got from eating a fluke-sick cricket.

take a poop sample less than 24 hours old into your local vet. even if they don’t do herps, they can probably tell what type of parasite it is on the microscope and give you medicine.

for keeping nutrients in his body, get repti-aid for insectivores, because he definitely won’t eat smaller crickets if he won’t eat bigger ones. mine won’t even do that when he’s healthy.

put him on paper towels for substrate to keep it sterile, clean it daily and make sure all crickets are out during the daytime.

get to a vet asap.
