 MBD?

Metabolic Bone Disease. It comes from not giving lizards calcium supplements. Or not giving Diurnal lizards UVB lighting. MBD starts with shaking limbs and ends with the bones distorting in random uncool directions - specifically the legs and jaw.

- lizard with MBD

You could dust the crickets if you want, but I prefer just gut-loading them with a nutritious diet. I find that crickets seem to really thrive on a diet of flake fish food and the egg mash type of food that is made for baby birds... what I dislike about dusting is that it kills the crickets if they are not eaten right away.

Calcium and other minerals can be added to the fruit-honey mixture -- that is what I would recommend. You could use the type of liquid vitamin that is made for birds, and also add some powdered calcium from a cuttlebone.

Yes, but if you keep your own cricket colony it is much less costly. For example, you can get 500 crickets (any size) from a cricket farm like Ghann’s (which I recommend, because theirs are guaranteed pest-free) for only around $20 or so, and unless you have a really large herp collection, if you keep these in a plastic bin with egg crates to crawl on and plenty of food and water, that’s several weeks supply right there! Plus you don’t have to panic if the store runs out of them.

Ditto. I’ve been given my gecko dusted crickets & mealworms and didn’t know why. Now I know, and the calcium dusting continues.

And as for the person who said that dusting kills the crickets- I always dust and put the crickets in with Gobo, the crickets live for a day or three. Until they get eaten. At least, that’s been my experience.
