 Got a leachie today!

I ended up getting a 3 month old leachie today. She is about 6 inches with weight unknown. The breeder was unable to give me her locality, however the breeder said she might be Grand Terra. I don’t have pics yet, but there will be soon, right after my camera charges. She is really active. The breeder advised me to put her in a 5 gal. But it seems a little cramped for her. Should I move her right in to a 10 gal.? Any advice?

you need atleast a ten gallon at that size. a 20gal tall would be even better. eventually you will probably need to have it in a 30gal tall.

leachies actually tend to grow better and a bit faster in smaller cages.. ive talked to some friends/breeders also that are finding the same thing. you can move her to a 10 gal right away if you want but thats up to you.

I’ve had way better success with smaller cages for juveniles. It’s like they just don’t get it at that age, so by keeping them a little closer to their food etc. really does keep their growth strong. As adults any Rhac will appreciate a good amount of space, however when they’re younger you’ll have better luck in a smaller enclosure. Beautiful leachie! It’s hard to guess locality at that age, but if the breeder didn’t know it, it may very well be a cross. I kind of see a little GT influence on the color/pattern, but they’re tough to judge.
