 Gecko emergancy help

Remember that it is the tank setup you get for the gecko, and not the gecko you get for the tank set up. Regardless of what species you end up getting, you’ll have to compensate by buying more to take care of it anyway. I suggest you look into leopard geckos - but even a leopard gecko should be moved up a tank size in the future, and they will need a tank with a hot area around 92F. You could also look into viper geckos, but they’re a little harder to take care of.

Your tank is 9 gallons. 10 gallons minimum for some gecko species (young leopard gecko, pictus, etc), 20 minimum for some more options, and larger for most.

It sounds to me like you’re just grabbing what you haven’t used yet and trying to buy a gecko just for the sake of filling it. Why not keep that tank as an extra for when one of the geckos gets ill and needs to be quarantined? Or you could always get some insect or arachnid for it.
