 Stuck shed

Good morning,

My leo shed this morning and she has shed stuck everywhere including 1 eye. the temperature here are quite cold now (live in PA) and I think that it is getting dry in the house (because of heating) so perhaps dry in her tank. yes she has a humid hide. last time (a few weeks ago) there was shed stuck on toes and I was able to get it off. we’ve had her for a few months now and never had problems. what do I specifically have to do? she doesn’t really like to be picked up or handled.

thanks

I have gone so far as to soak and remove the skin manually ....but as you said it doesn’t like to be handled ...you need to mist and keep more humid ...wet paper towels will stay moist for a few days...I made a tupperware hide that created a terrarium effect inside with misting and wet paper towels.

Trust me when I say I soaked and removed manually ...I did so very carefully and waited patiently for the shed to almost release it self .... even around the eye lids and toes. Extreme caution should be used ....or the other methods of humidity if you are timid.

It was rather bizarre peeling off the glove type skin on the feet....lol

 Stuck shed

Hey,

Great advice Cp.

I just want to add that I use a damp cotton swab and gently rub the area in the direction that the stuck shed needs to come off. Even one of my squirmy leos seems to calm down when we gently rub her this way.

Please let us know how it goes.

Holly

what you can do but it might sound crule to many leo lovers out there is to take a squirt bottle fill it with water and mist the gecko directly misting the animal will jep losten the dried out skin thus have it come off ive done this to one of my males when i first got him and now he loves to be misted lol but it works very well to get the bad shedding off

i have a troublesome little one with this issue. He sheds twice a month and every time he sheds, he cant get the shed off his eyes. I soak him for 15 mins in treated warm water. Then i help him.. i slowly - very slowly - pull the shed off his head. i also follow up with eye drops for a week after. His eyes are great now! just.. a lil dry the first few days after the shed.
