you should try to have it on the warm side if possible

but if it is moist enough it will still get humid
it doesnt have to be hot to be humid

But also cool and wet = just cold. I would put in the middle to hot side. I’ve never heard anyone say put it on the cool side. Doesn’t make sense to me either

In the wild, leopard geckos hide underground during the day to escape the heat. It’s cooler underground than it is above ground. So they probably always say to put it on the cool side to simulate there natural habitat. That would be my guess, but I’m not a leo expert.

I put all my moist boxes on the warm side. This increases humidity and gives the geckos a place to hide. It also dries out the box much quicker than the warm side. I have a warm hide, cool hide, and humid hide.

Well you have 3 hides aka shelter house for your leo. 1 one the cool side, 1 on the hott side & a Humid Hide is supposed to be on the cool side. The Humide Hide can be made from a tubberware filled with Moss or paper towels that are damped with water. This helps your leo shedding process.

Also you can put it on the warm side and screw a peice of sponge to the top of the hide and dampen it. Since this debate is which side to put the humid hide on you can try out which side works best for you. Also just because they are professional doesn’t always mean they have the experience. A vet is a professional and they dont always have the experience with every animal they are licensed to see. Experience always trumps book smarts. So you try both and see if there is a difference. Also depending on how much humidity you need. If your leo is not using it then something needs to be tweeked. I have my humid hide right in the middle. She loves it, sleeps in it all the time. She hardly ever uses her cool hide. Tell us your results....

I have mine on the cool side as well and they all seem to enjoy it in there. They go in and out regularily... I just keep it moist by spraying it every couple days
