 Golden Gate Gecko’s Slurry Recipe

I have permission from Marcia of GGG to put this slurry on here..
Golden Gate Geckos Slurry Recipe

This recipe was developed to provide anorexic carnivorous and insectivorous geckos with life sustaining nutrition while they convalescing, and to help produce a stool for a veterinary fecal test. It is NOT medicine, and it will NOT cure anything.

In a blender, combine:

1 small can Hill’s A/D pet food (available at most vets)
¼ cup Ensure (not chocolate)
1 jar baby food squash or pumpkin
¼ cup Pedialite
*2 tabs or contents of 2 capsules milk thistle (herbal supplement, liver purifier, found at most drug stores).
*2 tabs or contents of 2 capsules of Acidophilus (GI system probiotic, found at most drug stores).
1 tsp. calcium powder w/Vitamin D3
1/2 tsp. herp vitamin powder
2-4 X-large handful of mealworms, added slowly while mixture is blending until it is about the consistency of a milkshake.

*optional ingredients

Puree all ingredients until completely smooth. Pour into ice cube tray(s) and freeze. Store cubes in zip-lock bag in the freezer until ready to use, then thaw out 1 cube at a time and store in fridge for 2-3 days. You can use the empty baby food jar for this purpose, washing it thoroughly after each use.

Using this mixture, draw a full 1ml dropper (eye dropper type) and place a drop on the gecko’s nose, being careful not to plug the nostrils. Be patient and do not force-feed! The gecko will lick it of its nose, and as it does, slowly squeeze out a little at a time. Most geckos love this food, and will lap it up.

Yup . I’ve noticed that a ton of people on here are rescuing Leopard geckos and they die, so I thought this forum was BADLY in need of this. All thanks to Marcia!

This "drink" is godly. i hav a leo who can’t eat(long story) and this drink is the only thing keeping him alive. i’ve been using this as a staple for him for almost a year now. i know its not ment to be a staple, but like i sed, its a long story.

When Gibby started starving herself, this slurry was the only thing keeping her alive. I wish we could put stickies up here, because this would be a great post to always have access to. We should keep this bumped up for people . . . great post idea!

Ummm.... I was making this and before I added mealworms....I pureed it all......Put some on my finger (don’t ask I think i was around too many Sharpies LOL) and trust me...it’s.......Delicious !(really it was! TRY IT!

I have a question. Why would she recommend squash or pumpkin? Leopard geckos are carnivores. The only baby food I was told you could use as a substitute would be chicken.

I don’t know, but she’s been in the business for about 13 or 14 years, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing. It helps sustain lives...vitamins, the scent...it’s 1:11 in the morning, and last night I went to bed at 4:30....good night. (brain not working due to lack of sleep)

i no this is an old thread but this is actually great one of my geckos doesnt eat as often as the other one and i tried a little of this mix and it worked really well, the gecko loved it, thanks so much guys.
