Yes they sounded infertile but also may have been kept too humid so the shell did’t thicken and harden. I don’t kow what you use but for me vermiculite works very well, make it just damp enough that it "sticks" to your fingers but not wet enough that it drips if you squeeze it. Keep your egg contained snapped shut except for one corner, if its left unsnapped any condensation will run off the lid and not drip on your eggs.
