Hey Guys! So my new Crested Gecko that i have had for a few weeks now, seems to no be able to grip the glass of his tank anymore. I spray the cage twice a day so i do not think humidity is a problem. But maybe he is going to shed?? I am used to snakes where they get cloudy eyes etc before they shed. What indicators are there for when a crestie is going to shed? But he seems like he is running in place on the glass and not going anywhere.

i had this same problem. It could be shed or if you feed the raphsy diet it could be on their feet. Take a smallish container put a papertowl in it at spray the whole thing good with luke warm water, put gecko in, put lid on and let sit for awhile to help clean feet off....

His substrate is a paper towl, that is usually wet since I spray it down so much... would that usually clean his feet.

If he is on it slot but most of the time not. Plus in the large enclosure the humidity won’t be as high as in the little container...

So I was holding him/her yesterday and on his front left foot it looked like his nail fell off but was still on. Or it was like a little blakc bone sticking out of his toe. We thought i was CGD at first so we tried to pull it off, but as soon as we tried he started trying to bite at us and was making noise. We are hoping to leave it for a few days and just see if it falls off (hopefully) and that may be a reason why he is having trouble. Do people do warm soaks for Crested geckos? or is that just a snake thing?

Just leave it be. It sounds as if it has an injury that needs to heal...perhaps thats why its having a hard time gripping the glass. Feed it, mist it when it needs, and let it rest and heal is my advice. If it tried to bite you when you messed with its toe, its showing signs of being in pain. Leaving it alone will keep it from stressing out too much.
