 Non living cricket substitute?

hello all, my birthday is about a month away and i have been begging my parents about having a crested gecko, im not sure i’ll get one but i’m still researching up on it. ok, so i know that this is a wierd question but i heard cgd gives all nutrients even from insects, but crickets should still be given to support mental and physical sturdiness... in other words to make them not be lazy/go crazy from boredom. however, when i had my bluebelly crickets where a huge hassle, so im wondering it i can use a little something that looks like an insect for a possible future crested. if so, what can i use?

they do not require anything other than Crested Gecko Diet MRP made by Repashy. you can find it at pet stores packaged by T-Rex.

i have an adult gecko that wont eat crickets so the MRP is all he gets and i have a young gecko that loves to chase crickets so i give her about 6 crickets every other week. they both get the MRP every night.

i hope i answered your question.

crickets are fine to give regularly. 2 every other day wont hurt him. if anything it will probably just make him grow faster. make sure to gut load them tho.

they will normally sleep all day. they are nocturnal. they are very active at night even if you dont see them doing anything. mine freeze as soon as i look in their cage but i can hear them jumping around all night.

it depends on when you turn the lights off. i turn the lights off around 8:00 and they are awake by 9:00. but also you can wake them up during the day occasionally to handle them. they seem to tolerate it fairly well.

Just don’t expect them to be like a beardie! You can’t carry them around and handle them the same. They are very jumpy and active and may tolerate some handling. My beardie would probably live on my shoulder. Don’t expect the same from a crestie and you will do okay. They are beautiful and mysterious.
