 New CG

I when to the show in Taylor MI today and picked up a crested gecko. Here are some pics:
cage-with fake plants as of now, still waiting to order some live ones. I should have them soon though.

and the gecko:

I was told it was a flame/harley, is that right? not that it matters, but still I guess its good to know. I got him/her for 40$. I didnt end up getting the actual gecko from Pangea, but I purchased some CGD and SuperHatch from them. I really liked this one, and was not poarticularly drawn to any Pangea had left (not that they werent quality geckos or anything).

Gorgeous gecko!
I’d say probably a few months, I couldn’t really tell you, someone else could give you a much better guess. Plus knowing the weight will help guess.
Again that gecko is very pretty.

What a beauty you got there!!! Congrats! I would say it is a harley/flame, not sure though. She/he looks to be about the size of mine and she is about 5 months old. Last time I weighed her she was 13g if that helps.

"Fired-up" is a term used for when a crested is at its most stunning colors. If you were to watch your crested through out the day and night, you’d notice that their colors change. Often during the day, they can have very dull colors; but at night, especially when their looking for food, you’ll notice how bright they get.
My female, Oya, is a perfect example. When she is sleeping in the sun she turns light grey and pale orange. But at night, or when she is awake, her colors pop. the grey turns a chocolate brown, and the pale orange turns into a flaming bright orange. This is what fired up means.

check out the picture, this is her fired up. unfortunately I haven’t taken any pics of her dull colors, but watch your gecko and you’ll see what i mean...

She’s basically a harley, but she has some nice contrast with the bright orange and the chocolate sides.

What I find interesting is that not al the geckos are at their brightest when the are awake. This female becomes grey and muddy yellow when she sleeps, and orange and chocolate when she is awake; but my male dalmation becomes practically black when he sleeps, and a light grey when he is awake. He colors look more impressive when he’s sleeping, especially if he is sleeping in the light.

But whats even more interesting is that his dark color looks to be somewhat light sensitive. He was sleeping with a leaf pressed agains his side, and when I picked him up, he had a color impression of the leaf on him. the part of his body that stayed under the leaf remained light, while the est of him was dark, I thought it was quite funny to find him like that.,
