 New CG, advice?

OK, I got a crested from a guy off Craigslist. It is an adult male, no tail. He has good body weight. The guy has had him for around a year and has fed him nothing but crickets and mealworms the whole time. He was keeping him on ground walnut shells.

Since I have gotten him, I have set him up in a 55 gal with several fake plants/vines hanging everywhere, a couple pieces of driftwood that is sitting at angles so they go from top to bottom, large rocks, a little cave hide thing that is manetized so you can take off the outside half and see in, a bubbling water dish, a humid hide. I am using papertowels for substrate with moss on 1/2 of the tank floor. I have switched him over to CGD and he loves it. The first couple days he would always hang out in the vines near the top of the tank. Lately he just stays on the ground. I noticed one day he tried to climb the glass and he couldn’t? He kept sliding down. After a few attempts he just gave up and I haven’t saw he try it again. Any idea why he can’t climb glass?

I know you are supposed to feed adults every other day, but I have been feeding him everynight. I figure he comes right out to eat once he knows it is there, so he must be hungry. Will they over eat?

Is there anything else I should have in his cage? I have pics and I will add them later. They are on a different computer

I always thought they could, guess you learn something new everyday. He can get to the top using his vines and driftwood, but hasn’t lately.

ummmmm Amyers dude/dudette cresties can climb glass.. i see it every night with just about all my cresties(i have 15)... there are reasons why he may not be able to climb the glass... the main reasons are
1 hes either going to shed soon.. thus theres loose skin on his toe pads so he cant keep hold on the glass...
2 he just shed and has some skin stuck on his toe pads that will work off with correct humidity and him walking around in the cage.
3 he ran through the CGD and has that stuck on his toe pads which a shalow soak can help take care of and get rid of the food
or
4 the humidity in the cage isnt high enough.. which in this case means you have to mist his cage a bit more often or more heavily.. you can also put cling wrap on a portion of the screen top to help keep humidity in also

its fine to feed him every night... i use to feed every night but went to eeveryother since they werent eating everynight.. they wont over eat they are quite smart animals and know when to stop unlike gold fish

Another aspect of Gargoyle care that needs to be taken into account is that they are unable to stick to smooth surfaces as well as Crested Geckos

so what does this mean?

Means gargoyles cannot stick to smooth surfaces as well as crested geckos can. Simpler way of saying cresteds have stickier feet than gargoyles.

I guess he was just getting ready to shed or something, as he was climbing the walls last night.
