 Sorry but this is a *RANT*

Just the other day I just met the most ignorant annoying guy, who doesn’t know a thing about animals, let alone the special needs of a reptile. He’s moving in next door to me and me called me over to see my puppy and talk about cresteds. I thought it was all good at first, but then he starts pushing at breeding his male with one of my females and that’s what let to the discussion about his aminals...

My moms been bragging to him about my cresteds and the fact that I just had my first clutch. He asked if they put in a good word for letting me give him one of the babes. Firstly, since this is my first clutch, whatever hatches I’ll keep. The conversation that followed made it a definite NO...

He has two leopards, supposedly a male and female, a male crested and a great horned toad (or some sort of frog, he didn’t really know). Anyways he was complaining about why the leos weren’t breeding, and that he doubts the female being female.

I, not knowing too much about leos, asked if the tank is set up properly for them. Apparently, he keeps the four mentioned above ONE 55g tank. I told him that he should separate each type into their own tank, and he responds with "They’ve been together for 2 years and their getting along fine."

I try to explain to him that the toad could possibly be poisonous, and the tank situation is why the leos aren’t breeding. He feels that they are all good together, and they don’t bug one another so it’s good...

All I could think of was how sorry I felt for those aminals, and how terrible it is for them to be stuck with him. He doesn’t even listen to advice given to help solve a problem he has. He was persistant in the fact that they’ve been together for 2 years so they’re good. I even tried exlaining that cresteds were jungle and leos were not, but he just said he mists the cage every day and evaeryone is happy.

And now he’s bugging me for my other 125g tank I just recently acquired. The tank was previously used for turtles, so I’m gonna bleach the heck out of it, but the sides bottom and back are spray painted on the outside with black. He bugges me and says "I’ll give you 50 bucks for that tank."

I respond, "That tank cost more than that."

"Can’t be worth much with paint on the sides" is his reply. I just got the tank and he’s trying to buy from me as if I wasn’t going to use it. And he trying to bargain with me to get me to go out of my way to sell him something I wasn’t going to sell. I just walked away, frustrated at his stupidity.

Sorry for the rant, but I’ve only met this guy twice and I hate him already. I really don’t get mad at people who didn’t know that certain things wouldn’t be good to do. But to do it, ask for and receive advice, and still thing that what their doing is not the problem even when there are several sources stating that it is bad, that is far worse than being ignorant.

Aww man, i feel really sorry for you. but it could be worse.. my old neighbor broke into my house and fed ALL my animals rat poisoning. i hope you work something out with him. try sitting and talking about how ignorant he is. ha ha.

when i was 8 and my brother was 10 we had 2 dogs. our new neighbor just moved in. well he hated dogs very much! so one day while we were gone he came in, smashed our cat, and put rat poisoning in the dog food. that was what my dad told me at first. but when i was older, he told me the real reason he had killed our dobermans. my dad got the police to look into his back ground and he had child molestation in there. he was killing our guard dogs to get to me and my brother. my dad got him arrested and we moved away. far away. i am very sad to bring it all up.

tell your neighbor about this site, just say how cool it is, then we can try to offer more opinions and possibly persuade him. Unless having him on RZ wouldnt be the greatest idea...

He seams to be the type of person who’d say, "Man, I don’t know what you guys are talking about. I’ve had them all together for 2 years, and they look happy, so there’s nothing wrong with what I’m doing."

He keeps bugging me to let him have one of the babes when they hatch, and to breed his mle with my female. But I have a feeling that his male would not have the energy required to inpregnate a female

oh i hate people lol

i work at a petstore and this guy came in he had a bearded dragon that was supplosedly 1yr and was nly about 8 in ahh

he was on large grain calcium sand no uvb no suppliments said a guy cave him to them and said that was everything they needed

then theyhad a waterdragon and a cuban night anole in a 30g with no uvb on calcium sand!!!

they said they dont suppliment food anymore b/c our store doesnt dust food for people

the water dragon had a swollen shut eye which i figured duto the sand

when i told them they should be seperated he siad they liked each other lol

anyway they did buy reptile carpet and bed abeast they also baught some calcium supliments and some turtle eye drops

but still

and then this other lady came in and asked where our aquarium gravel was i showed her ended up asking what she was using it for

she was keeping her bearded dragon on it!!! i told her that was very dangerous and he could get very sick and die but she said he had been on it for a year and that he was fine

i always use the example that i could lock them in a closet and give them only bread and water and th would not die instantly lol they would just slowly waste away and that is exactly what they are doing to their animals they just dont seem to get it

people drive me crazy

be careful of making him mad though(not saying to give him anything)just mean you should be careful what you say b/c you dont want a neigbor to hate you lol

they can do some pretty mean things

I love what my vet said in responce to something my mom had stated. The vet said, "We can live in this room (the exam room) the rest of our lives eating nothing but cheetos, that doesn’t mean it’s good for us"

Basically with this guy now, I just try to avoid him. He’s just one of many living in that house since the owner kind of screwed herself with an adjustable rate mortgage, She’s been renting left and right to whomever can pay rent. She is stuck paying around $3000 a month for just the mortgage alone, so she’s doing what she can to keep the house.

No one in that house are really good animal people, they’ve got a pit that keeps getting into trouble cause the don’t bother containing or watching him. plus they feel that fixing a dog is demasculating and too expensive to deal with, so guess what the dog has hanging around...

call your police non emergency number about their dog. if you complain and especially if other people complain theyll look into it.. it should help.

im a blunt person.. id tell him that im keeping this clutch and that you wouldnt sell any animals to him because of his shoddy care standards and that i dont want to be bothered anymore.

good luck dealing with him.
