 *Coming Soon!* Crested Gecko

I am getting a cresty soon and only know basic knowledge of temps, feeding, housing, and stuff. I have a cage ready with live plants, hides, and a UTH. Any extra advise or are are things i need to still get. Thanks for the help.

if you have hides on the ground they probably wont be used much..

a uth is kinda pointless again since cresties arent ground dwellers...

and if you get a baby i suggest you raise it in a different cage with a solid substrate especially if you are going to be feeding it crickets

umm.. wow. crested geckos are an arboreal species. they live up high most of the time. you need to do alot more research before you get one. what size tank do you have? you need at least a 20 gallon tall tank for an adult.

Unless You live somewhere really cold you won’t need any heat source. Crested Gecko’s Do Great at 75F, In fact you never want to let their temperatures rise higher then 80-82F.
You want to Keep humidity at 60% during the day and somewhere between 70-80% at night.
An adult needs a 20 gallon tall or you can do what I did and flip it vertically, like this,

Have you Researched "Crested Gecko Diet" by T-rex? If not you really should, it’s great stuff. That and crickets sometimes is all you need to feed them.
as for substrate, what do you plan to use? I use Eco-Earth. But I place my crested gecko’s in a critter keeper to completely eliminate the chance of impactions. Or you can just use plain old paper towels.

If you have any more questions please ask.

It looks Good.

I can’t tell from you picture but you do have a water bowl in their. Right?
The only thing I would recommend is if you chose to feed crickets to not feed them in there so your little gecko doesn’t end up eating his substrate.

As long as you follow Proper temps and humidity, Your gecko should be good to go. :)

If you look really hard you can see a large water dish. Its under the wooden hide. I put 1/2 the water dish under the hide to make a cave affect.

an under the tank heater is really unneccesary due to the fact that they are arboreal they spend all of there time higher up in the canopy and room temperature is usually sufficient if its around 75 to 85 just make sure you have more hight than width in your tank if possible they love to climb and give them hides up high and plants to

In all three of my cages I don’t have a single "Hide" Not high or low, but I have lots and lots of fake plants they hide in.
