My first crested, a few questions?

Okay here he is! Pics are below. I got him for $20 off craigslist. They think hes a boy but he doesn’t have the bump under the tail yet. He is a year old. He came in a large critter keeper, I’m guessing its about 4 gallon size but I’m not sure. I’m going to move him into a 10 gallon glass tank that I have because he is still pretty small (I think?). And I will buy him a 20 gallon in a few months after we move into our new apartment.
My questions:

1. will he be okay in the 10 gallon for a while and also whether I should go ahead and move him into it now (well once I get it ready) or if I should wait a week or so for him to get used to our home?

2. Also maybe we handled him too soon? Should we have waited? I just wanted to get good pics so you could see how big he is.

3. Instead of using the eco-earth bedding and changing it out every so often (how often are you supposed to change it?), would it be okay to use soil and live plants?

4. Oh he came with some food mix too. She said its 2 parts food to 1 part water I think. How much do I feed him and how often?

Thanks for any advice :)

oh p.s. He came with nothing but the critter carrier and fake vines, and I’ve read care sheets but I wanted to get your opinions of what else is really needed for his tank.

my turn to hold him )

He is not as bright as these pictures are showing, I think the flash made his colors brighter. But hes more of a light creamy brown than orange.

My first crested, a few questions?

lol they dont know what theyre talking about then... if hes a year old and hs no hemipenel bulges yet then he is really a she....

1 yeah he will be fine in a 10 gallon.. move him into the 10 right away cuz its just gona keep him stressed out if you wait to move him to the 10.

2 handling him to get a few pics is ok. but you need to keep i down to bare minimum for the first week or so.

3 if you use soil and live plants be sure the soil has no plantfood or anything in it. and be sure the plants dont have food in their soil or be sure to get as much soil off in the beginning and rinse the roots off really well with runing water

4 usually about a tsp if even that of food.. you can mix a little more up and store it in the frdge.. i change out diet every other night
