 Substrates?

What substrate do you use? I heard many different things about this, and would like a few more opinions. I would also like to know how many cresteds you have/years of experience if you wouldn’t mind :) just so I have something to go off of.

And if anyone got their crested at an expo (full-tailed) how much did you pay?

Thanks!+

i use papertowels for mine... i have 14 cresteds 1 gargoyle and a leachie(and other various geckos not related to cresties) and ive been keeping cresties for about 3 years now.

well pricing all depends on morph age and sex.. the older and better morph the more.. though females are alot more than males too... ive bought cresties at expos anywhere from $30 to $150 though ive seen some sell for more than $300

Thanks! so Impaction is still an issue, right? That’s what I heard, glad to have another opinion. And I have another question or two, about their food...

The CGD... do you have to change it out more than once a day?
How fast does a crestie go through the CGD?

I use peat moss mix w/ coco fiber but plain coco fiber works just fine and yes I feed crickets on the bedding. Never have had an issue with the bedding. Babies under 7 grams go on paper towels...I have over 30 geckos and have had geckos for over 8 years now.

impaction is a possibility still yes... i usually say babies to juvies stay on papertowel then if you want to switch to the coco fiber you can.. but thats up to you

you dont have to switch out the food more than once a day.. just put fresh food in at night rather than in the morning then it will be fresh while he is waking up rather than going to sleep... the container of CGD will last a decent ammount of time for one gecko... i cant tell you how long though since its been forever since i used the jars they sell in stores.. that and its been a while since i had only 1 crestie

how much is that is USA dollars martylizardlover?

i use eco earth, bed-a-beast, or other coco fiber bricks like them for mine. i put my gecko on it when i first got her at 5 grams and she was fine. i now have her in a quarentine tank with no substrate while i am doing her naturalistic viv.

i paid $150.00 for her and another $55.00 for shipping.

i just got her in February and i have gotten another one since.
