Tiny Garter/Ribbon found! What to do?

Hi all.

I’m not usually one to keep wild animals, I’ve usually opted to just let them go back out there, but about five minutes ago, I found an extremely small, frail, seems-to-be underfed garter/ribbon snake. First off, can anyone tell me what it is exactly? Secondly, I have all of the materials needed to keep it for a while. I’d really like to put some weight on this thing before I let it go, but it’s so miniature I have no idea what to feed it. Grubs? I know Garter’s will eat just about anything. Should I go set up a ten gallon for it, or just hope it fairs well on its own? I know, all the parasites-blahblahblah deal, which is why I usually just let them go, they’d have a better chance. But this one I’m not so sure. It doesn’t seem to have much of a chance right now. Anyway, I’m going to just let it settle down for now until someone gets back to me on it. It’s only about six or seven inches long, this is the SMALLEST snake I’ve ever seen. ☺

that’s an eastern ribbon snake. that isn’t underfed at all. it looks to be normal weight.mine is,since the people that "looked after it" didn’t feed it for 3 weeks.and they don’t eat "just about everything". if you look at it, hardly anything.they eat frogs, toads, rosy red minnows, other minnows, tiny cut up fish, and sometimes earthworms. no goldfish! no insects!
smallest snake you’ve ever seen?
20 gallon at least for adults.
just be careful when you feed large earthworms. mine almost choked on one a few minutes ago because of it’s slime but spit it out...and then ate it again.

I just let it go. Don’t have time for a snake that’s not in need of help. Thanks for the input though.
