 Ribbon snakes for dummies

hey guess what I’m the dummy! i know you can get a ribbon snake at petco but will they eat frozen pinkies? what is a good staple diet other than that? (if there is one) i want one because i need a snake that can live in a 10 gallon tank because that’s the kind i have.

They’ll eat frozen pinkies/fuzzies just fine after you scent them a few times. Frozen mice are really the best diet for them. A 10 gallon is still pretty small for an adult ribbon. They’re very active and they make use of all of their space.

not all ribbon snakes will convert to mice. My male wont touch mice but my female only eats fuzzies. Rosy red minows and earth worms are a good diet for a non-rodent eating ribbon.

A brown snake or ring neck snake would be much more comfortable in a ten gallon, although a baby ribbon can be happy in a ten gallon for a few years.
