Quote: its a corn snake,or if im wrong then a rat snake
corn snakes are rat snakes Quote: garter snakes don’t rattle their tails when threatened but ratsnakes do.
there are many species of snakes that rattle their tales when upset. depending on where you live, the pictures arent quite clear enough but i would agree with baby black rat, racer or it looks like it could be a small eastern milk. If you have any more brighter pictures it would help. |

But just to clear things up... a corn snake IS A TYPE of ratsnake... but the closest morph of corn to that would be a black albino (anery A) and they dont look like that well, nice find I would love to have that snake. Good Luck ps, I agree with ribbonsnakyyy...there are so many snakes with that pattern when they are young it can be hard to tell what kind it is. And yes there are some melanistic eastern milks out there but I dont beleive this snake has the head pattern or shape of one |

But my freind and I caught a 5ft central texas whipsnake who was mean beyond comprehnsion. But tamed in 2DAYS and would slither around in the car clambing all the seats and hand grips on the roof while we drove...it was an awesome experiance. I honor you for releasing it though, that is probably the best choice you could have made. psi forgot to say this on my last post but one way you can tell thaat it is not a rat or milksnake is by the length of its tail. racers have very long whiplike tails and rats and kings dont.. Good Luck |

They are BORN with pattern but as they get older they grow into more of a solid color...like a black rat. And also look at the tail... it speaks for itself |
