 HELP ME!

OK, I really want a garter snake(or other snake) but my mom hates snakes. she says she shouldn’t have to live with something she is afraid of. I tell her i can keep it in the basemnt and she will never have to see it or its food but she still says no. How can I change her mind?

you can’t so get over it unless she just faces her fears and touches one and figures out it is not dangerous so there you go do that.nothing really will change her mind on a computer!go to the petstore and ask for the manager to pick one up or something so she’ll see it isn’t dangerous.

I agree, there isn’t a certain way to change her mind. Most people judge things by looks and other people’s stupid opinions and that’s how she concludes that she fears snakes. What I did with my Mom is that I took her to a pet store and after she kinda got into the fact that they are slow moving and not dangerous, she started to like a few snakes in the store. DOn’t make your Mom hold a snake because thta would kis your snake goodbye in most cases. Nobody wants hold a snake for the first time until they do. Hope this helps, Alec

 HELP ME!

Well my garter just had babies and I am trying to get my mother to like the small cute ones at least, but that looks like a slow process.

 HELP ME!

If letting her see how small an adult garter snake is doesnt help then I really dont know what else will except showing her how harmless they are show her care sheets and info links on the computer It sukks but I had to wait till I lived on my own to own a snake even though a dog is more dangerous and we had a good few of them go figure its an irrational fear that I dont understand. I heard that humans may be naturallly afraid of snakes and spiders as an instinct for survival
